This course is designed to provide valuable insight and strategies tailored to safeguarding your practice against common methods of misappropriation and exploited opportunities used in the course of  employee dishonesty losses.  We will explore actual scenarios practice owners faced, and creative methods employees used to conceal their acts.  Learn how to identify red flags, implement effective controls, and prevent the costly consequences of employee dishonesty.

  • Understand the many forms of employee dishonesty including theft, fraud, and embezzlement.
  • Learn best practices for implementing internal controls and security measures to prevent opportunities for employee theft. 
  • Effectively respond and document suspected instances of employee dishonesty including investigation, forensic analysis, and opportunities to recover your loss.

 

Speaker(s): Jim McCurley, CPA

Jim McCurley is a director with Baker Tilly’s forensic, litigation and valuation services practice. Mr. McCurley has also worked on behalf of the California Attorney General’s Office to quantify damages in claims filed against the state and is often engaged by attorneys to evaluate damages in personal injury and other commercial disputes. As a forensic accountant, he has worked extensively with insurance companies and attorneys providing quantification of economic damages and litigation support services. Working on behalf of insurers, Jim’s independent analysis measures damages in direct first party losses, including business interruption, property loss and other associated losses.

No. Non-policyholders and dental team members can participate in most seminars and e-learning courses and earn C.E. However, only TDIC policyholders can benefit from premium discounts for two years for completing the current seminar.

E-learning courses are available through CDA Presents 360, an online learning platform. When you click Register Now for your course, you will be directed to https://www.cdapresents360.com/learn/signin.

Simply click Register Now, sign in or create a profile, and follow the prompts. 

Tips for signing in:

  • If you are a TDIC policyholder and have registered for a course previously, be sure to log in using the same email address and password you used to create your account.
  • If you are a TDIC policyholder with online account access, you will still need to create an account to register for an e-learning course. 
  • If you are a CDA member, be sure to log in or create your account with the same email address you use to access cda.org.
